The Fabulous & Beautiful (Branch 281) hosted their third annual Summer Party in Quintessentially British style at modern British restaurant, Aberdeen Street Social in the gorgeous PMQ building in Hong Kong.

To start guests enjoyed a typically British start with Gin & Tonics to accompany their canapes of Quail Egg Scotch Eggs and Smoked Salmon, Lemon Cream Cheese and Salmon Caviar and the discussion over their personalised business card holders which was given to each person!

Then the 4 courses commenced! To start, Tiger Prawn Cocktail with Lobster Jelly, Iceberg Lettuce and Avocado paired brilliantly with the pairing of the night – a Marksman English Sparkling Brut, Blanc de Blancs, Ridgeview, 2001, East Sussex, England – truly British! The Sea Bass with Roasted Cauliflower and Curry Sauce was another delicious hit and paired wonderfully with the Chardonnay, Shaw & Smith M3, 2015, Adelaide Hills, Australia. The main event, however, was the star course of the show: Ox Cheek and Bone Marrow, Horseradish Mash, Roasted Carrots and Red Wine Sauce with a side of the most trufflific Truffle Mac! The pairing – a gorgeous Sami-Odi, Little Wine #5, NV, Barossa Valley, Australia – was as amazing as the bottle which had a wax top. To end was a very British Blackcurrant Eton Mess with Mascarpone and Miso which was paired with Te Mania Nelson Koha Ice Wine, 2013, Nelson, New Zealand.

As if the menu wasn’t British enough, each table had a British pub quiz with questions taken from the actual British Citizenship test which is taken by over 100,000 people each year who want to live in the UK. it was a great way to get the teams interacting and test their knowledge of the UK!

Executive Chef, Christopher Whitmore and his awesome team seamlessly delivered top notch food. We cannot thank them enough for their hard work on Saturday: preparing 4 courses for such a large group is nothing short of impressive and they did it in such style! Thanks also to Georgina Bentley-Leek for all your help with coordinating it all!

Wine Master for the F+B, Jennifer Quasdorf, was the talk of the night with guests raving about her wine pairings. Huge thanks to you and well done for such awesome pairings!!

Thanks also to Kiki and Vanessa, our Treasurer and Secretary, respectively. We are thankful for your efforts and input in keeping the F+B organised!

The event was attended by over 40 women and men and included male guests from The Hong Kong Original (Branch 278).

Thank you to all our guests: we hope you had a wonderful time!
