Innisfail Convention – 2026
BEEFSTEAK AND BURGUNDY CLUB
2026 CONVENTION
MISSION BEACH QUEENSLAND
Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August
Hosted by the Innisfail Beefsteak and Burgundy Club
As members would be aware by now, it is confirmed that the 2026 Beefsteak and Burgundy Club Convention is being hosted by the Innisfail Club. It is centred on Mission Beach and is being held from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August.
In early August, Innisfail experiences cool, sunny winter weather with average high temperatures around 26°C and lows around 19°C, making it a pleasant time to visit with very little rainfall (according to the internet). A quick search on the internet also shows that for Mission Beach, in particular, early August offers beautiful winter weather: expect sunny days, low humidity, minimal rain, and comfortable daytime highs around 24-26°C.
Delegates can register for the Convention here
THE LOCATION
The 2026 Beefsteak and Burgundy Convention will be centred at Mission Beach, located 1.5 hours south of Cairns and 0.75 hours south of Innisfail in the lush and spectacular country of North Queensland. The Convention will provide an incentive for those who have not travelled in the area to use the opportunity pre- or post-convention to explore locations such as Innisfail, Cairns, Palm Cove, Port Douglas, the Atherton Tablelands, Kuranda and the Raintree Rainforest.
Mission Beach
The host club, Innisfail Beefsteak and Burgundy Club, has put together a program that in addition to the normal convention social activities and highlights also gives an insight into the beauty and life of the area. It is receiving great support from local companies so will be a quality event in a beautiful area. Saturday evening will be held at Innisfail itself, which is very much worth a look at for its many Art Deco buildings including the Shire Hall, the site of Saturday night’s Gala Dinner. Innisfail is considered to be one of the best Australian towns for Art Deco and Streamline Moderne architecture.

REGISTRATION
Registration forms can be accessed via the Convention Link on the Home Page of the Beefsteak and Burgundy Club website www.bsb.org.au .
While it would be administratively convenient for payment to be made when registering, to do it separately is possible as per the directions above.
ACCOMMODATION
For their accommodation delegates can choose if they wish from one of the following three sites:
- Eco Village Mission Beach (currently being renovated but will be available by when we are there)
- Mission Beach Resort
- Elandra Resort Mission Beach
Delegates should book their accommodation direct with their place of choice.
Use the code Beefsteak and Burgundy Club Convention. [If doing online and that does not work use Beef Steak and Burgundy Club Convention]
Elandra Resort
Another option delegates could consider is the Mission Beach Hideaway Holiday Village, which can be used for caravans and motorhomes, but it also has cabins which are quite satisfactory and cheaper than the other alternatives (code is not applicable, but you receive a discount if you are a member of G’day Parks). As well, the Hideaway Holiday Village has the advantage of being at the centre of Mission Beach, giving the convenience of a short walk to the Friday dinner and to the Saturday Business Meeting (and to the beach). It has a swimming pool.
Also note that blocks of accommodation are not being held. One or another may sell out through delegates choosing it or other holiday makers, so don’t hold off on booking your accommodation.
TRANSPORT
Transportation to and from the accommodation from the airport, from the accommodation to and from the Friday registration, pre-dinner drinks and Welcome Dinner, on the Saturday lunch excursions, to and from Innisfail for the Saturday evening events and to and from Dunk Island for the Farewell Brunch Sunday will all be provided as part of the Registration.
Particular points to note are:
- The Convention Transport provided from Cairns Airport to Mission Beach will leave the airport on Friday 7 August at 10.00 am, 11.40 am and 1.30 pm. Delegates flying and using the transport provided should choose their flights accordingly. No flights arriving after 1.10 pm will be accommodated.
- The Sunday Farewell Lunch will require transport by ferry. It has only one sailing which will not return to Mission Point until late afternoon. This means that delegates should book return flights on Monday, unless they make alternative arrangements.
- The Convention Transport provided from Mission Beach to Cairns Airport on Monday 10 August will have its first departure at 6.30 am which will service flights from 9 am, with the next departure being 8.30 am which will service departures from 11.00 am. No flights leaving before 9.00 am will be accommodated.
Clearly, if delegates are booking flights and they wish to avail of the transportation provided, they will need to choose flights that arrive and depart that fir in with the transportation schedule above (which have been determined according to the Qantas and Virgin arrival and departure times in the morning and early afternoon).
If delegates do not want to be dependent on provided transport, car hires can be booked for collection at the Cairns Airport.
DRESS
Dress for all events will be smart casual, although for the Gala Dinner on Saturday night, delegates are asked to wear a club tie or a club pin/badge, as featured on the Regalia page of the B&B website.
BUSINESS SESSION
The Agenda for the Business Session will be sent to clubs a month before the convention so that they can provide any feedback on the matters listed, either directly to the General Secretary, or through a club delegate attending the Business Session.
MASTERCLASS
Because of the tightness of the program, a masterclass has been scheduled as part of the tour of the banana farm and of the Paronella Park. The focus of the masterclass is still being determined. The two venues will have the same masterclass so that should not be a determinant of which excursion tour is chosen.
FURTHER DETAILS
Any further information that may arise will be posted as a link to the website Convention section.
A month or so before the start of the Convention registrants will be sent an update which will give some more specific details, such as the location of events starting with where the registration check-in will occur.
It will also ask delegates to provide their means of travel and if arriving at Cairns Airport, the scheduled time of their arrival.
Delegates will also be asked what their accommodation venue is.
QUESTIONS/QUERIES
If members have any questions or queries relating to the Convention, please email the General Secretary at gensec@bsb.org.au
